SSHA Annual Charity Tournament

Happens This Weekend

The Stanley Stick Hockey Association’s annual charity tournament weekend, The Holiday Scramble, will take place on December 1st and 2nd.  How does a hockey tournament support local charities?  Through the Team Food Bank Challenge where SSHA’s 26 teams will compete to see which team can bring in the most items for the Guelph Food Bank.  Donations will be counted by parent volunteers and for every item donated the Stanley Stick Hockey Association will donate $1 (to a maximum of $5000) to the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington County’s Free to Grow Program.  The Free to Grown Program provides financial support so that children and youth can participate in recreational sports, arts and life skills development activities.

The Holiday Scramble takes place at the Sleeman Centre on Saturday from 7am-12pm and at West End Rec Centre both Saturday and Sunday from 7am-5pm.  There is a family skate on Sunday at West End starting at 3:30 with a special guest from the north pole.  We hope you can join us.

Food bank donations can be dropped off at West End Rec Centre in the Lions Lair between 8am and 2pm either day.
